For those of you confused about what was going on in my last movie-post, I will reveal the secret here: Ben was up last weekend on his own to oversee the plumbers do their thing. Later he heard that mysterious sound of dripping coming from the mouth of the open pipe. He had to think a bit to figure out where it was coming from because there is no water turned on anywhere, it's not even hooked up to any pipes yet. Finally he figured it out - it was raining outside and the pipe eventually leads to the empty septic tank, 30 feet away and buried under the ground, where it could only be drips from the groundwater finding there way into that tank. The echo traveled all the way through the pipes and up into our house, providing him with some lovely music for the evening.

Here's the plumbing...

The famous insulated box, the gatekeeper of all things water and sewage related. There is the large white pipe that leads to the septic system, the small black pipe that brings water into the house, and the smaller black one that brings electricity to the water pump at the bottom of the well. The big black pipe is a drainage outlet that we can use to drain water from the system when we want to shut down for winter and not risk pipes getting frozen.

They drilled hole after hole after hole to feed the pipe under the bathroom floor.

The pipes. The raised floor allows them all to stay above the insulated floor and stay warm. from here they will feed through the walls to the next door laundry nook and the kitchen sink.

The electrician comes early February to rough out the electricity. Our plan is to shut down for winter but since winter hasn't wanted to visit us so far, we'll just forge ahead until it does...
